PURPOSE: Swine are widely recognised as an essential experimental platform for evaluating prosthetic heart valves and testing novel catheter-based deployment methods. Our study aimed to establish baseline normative diameters for the aortic root and ascending aorta in swine using spiral computed tomography angiography (CTA), enhancing the success of preclinical research and device development. METHODS: Our study involved thoracic CTA scans of 34 male swine, detailing the anatomical features of the aortic root and ascending aorta, and measuring the diameters at five key planes. RESULTS: We conducted an additional analysis of the relationships among the chosen principal parameters. CONCLUSION: The baseline angiography of swine offers reference values for future studies.
